Frequently Asked Questions

How does an electric fly swatter work?

You swing it like a tennis racket. The mesh face carries a charge, and an insect that touches it is killed on contact. One swing, no spray, nothing left in the room.

How is it powered?

It recharges over USB, so any phone charger or power bank tops it up. There are no batteries to buy or replace.

How long does a charge last?

Service life depends on the product, fitting, weather exposure, use and care. Inspect the mesh and fixings regularly and replace damaged parts. We do not promise a fixed lifespan.

Is it safe around children?

Insect screens are not fall-prevention or security barriers. Keep children and pets away from open windows. Pet-resistant mesh is not a restraint.

Is it safe around pets?

Yes, in normal use. It only discharges where the mesh is touched, and it puts no chemicals into the room, which is the usual worry with sprays and coils around animals.

Does it use chemicals?

None. Nothing is sprayed and nothing is burnt, so there is no smell and nothing to air out afterwards.

Can I use it outdoors?

Yes. Camping, hiking, a picnic table or the back verandah. It is a handheld racket, so it needs no power point.

What is the light for?

A built in LED, so you can use it after dark. Mosquitoes are a night problem and a dark room is exactly when you cannot see what you are swinging at.

What insects does it work on?

Mosquitoes, flies, fruit flies, gnats and other flying pests.

Is it noisy?

No. It is quiet in use, which is the difference between it and an electric bug lamp running all night.

Can I use it in a tent or a caravan?

Yes, and it is one of the better answers there, because a spray in a confined space is unpleasant and a coil is not an option.

How do I clean it?

Let it discharge fully, then brush the mesh out with a dry brush. Do not run it under a tap.

Can it get wet?

No. Keep it dry. It is an electrical device.

How long does it last?

Service life depends on the product, fitting, weather exposure, use and care. Inspect the mesh and fixings regularly and replace damaged parts. We do not promise a fixed lifespan.

Is it better than a spray?

For the single mosquito keeping you awake, yes: it deals with that one insect and leaves nothing behind. For an infestation, a screen on the window is the real fix and the racket is what handles what gets past it.

Do I need to hold the button down?

Yes, the charge is live only while the button is pressed, which is what makes it safe to leave on a bench.

Can I take it on a plane?

That is a matter for the airline, because it carries a rechargeable battery. Check with your carrier before you pack it.

Does it come charged?

Give it a full charge before first use. That is normal for a rechargeable device that has been in storage and transit.

Is there a replacement part if the mesh is damaged?

No. It is sold as a complete racket, and the mesh is not a separately replaceable part.

Why does it need a screen as well?

A racket handles the insects already inside. A screen stops them coming in. Most buyers here end up with one of each.

Can more than one person use it?

It is a single racket. Households that open the back door constantly often buy a second, or a pack of the plastic swatters to keep in the rooms it is never in.

Is it heavy?

No. It is a light handheld racket, comfortable to swing for as long as the mosquito lasts.

Does it work on spiders?

It is designed for flying insects. For a spider or a wasp, the leather swatter is the better tool.

What is in the box?

The racket and its USB charging lead.

What does delivery cost?

Standard delivery costs NZ$25 below NZ$100 and is free at NZ$100 or more after discounts. Express delivery is available for NZ$25, including above the free-delivery threshold.

How long does delivery take?

Allow 5 to 7 days to your door, after a 24 to 48 hour handling and processing time on our end.

Do you deliver outside New Zealand?

No. We deliver within New Zealand only.

Are your prices in New Zealand dollars?

Yes. Every price on the site is the NZD pricing price, and the free delivery threshold is measured on the NZD pricing total too.

Can I return it if I change my mind?

For a change of mind, contact us within 15 days of purchase. Original packaging and proof of purchase are required, with NZ$39 handling and buyer-paid tracked return delivery under our policy. These voluntary conditions do not limit applicable Consumer Guarantees Act remedies.

How do I track my order?

Use the tracking code from your confirmation email on our Track Your Parcel page.

LED LIGHT

The handy LED light on the handle ensures that you can easily see where you’re swatting , perfect for use outdoors. electric fly swatter rechargeable

A tennis racket that stuns or kills bugs with an electrical current running through the head.

The electric fly swatter has many advantages over a traditional flyswatter:

First, it’s better than a swatter at killing a bug midflight, and second, there’s no squished-bug mess to clean up (although there is often a light burning smell).

And with the loud pop and flash of spark to confirm each kill, it’s also a whole lot of fun. The Electric Bug Zapper Racket won’t solve all of your bug problems, it’s a challenge to hit a zippy housefly midair, and you can’t hit a stationary fly with this thing, so it works best as a companion to a traditional flyswatter. We found that it’s best for mosquitoes, moths, or fruit flies.

The Electric Fly Swatter Racket is easy to use. At the top of the handle is a button that activates the charge. When you press it, a little red indicator light goes on (the device also emits a high-pitched whine). During testing, we pressed the button and touched the grid to see how powerful the voltage was; although it makes a satisfying pop and gives you a spicy jolt, it won’t leave you tased on the ground.

Being able to kill a bug midair alters your approach to bug hunting at a fundamental level, you simply see the bug and swing at it. With a traditional flyswatter, you have to follow the bug’s erratic, looping flight around the room, waiting for it to land on something that can handle a solid swat; then, and only then, can you attempt a kill. The Electric Flyswatter Racket is immediate and satisfying.

We also like that the Electric Fly Zapper Racket doesn’t squish bugs, which can result in a stain especially with roaches and other large bugs. Instead, The Executioner just leaves a slightly burnt-smelling, yet intact, carcass that you can easily scoop up and toss in the trash.

The electric Fly Killer is also effective in the garden, where you can scrape and shake smaller bugs off plants and onto the electric grid. This method lets you kill harmful pests infesting the plants without using pesticides.

Although The rechargeable Fly Killer is made of plastic, it’s sturdily built, especially in comparison with the Amazing Handheld Bug Zapper, which usually costs a little less but has a particularly flimsy feel. The Executioner runs on AA batteries (not included).

We wish The bug zapper racket had some kind of lanyard hole for easy hanging on a wall. It’s awkward to store unless you basically wedge it between two items in a closet or garage, where it, and its burned-bug guts, can contact other items. It has a gap between the handle and the head, but if you hang it on that, it hangs crooked.

Frequently Asked Questions the budget screens company new zealand

Electric Bug Zapper

Will it kill bees?

It will kill wasps, bees - basically whatever you want to kill - the electric shock is strong and you can keep sending the shock as long as you hold the buton down - we use it primarily to kill wasps

Will it work for moths?

Most definitely. I wanted it for carpenter bees and wasps, but the more fragile the insect, the more lethal this weapon becomes.

Is it cheaply made?

It's made from ABS and not cheap plastic. It is very high quality.

How long is the racket from top to bottom and how long is the racket head itself?

The racket is 44.7cm (18.8") top to bottom and the grid is 19cm (7.6") wide and 25cm (10") long

Does it work on fleas ?

Yes

Does it have only one surface to kill the bugs or both sides do the job?

The metal mesh that shocks is in between another metal net layer, but it zaps from either side.

Will it work on spotted lantern flies? They’re pretty big...

Yes, but you may need to zap them again or finish them off with a paper towel, because sometimes they are only stunned, not dead.

Will this work on murder hornets?

Yes

Would these be strong enough to kill cicada killer wasps?

Yes

Does it glow at night to attract bugs?

No it doesnt glow. only sparks when you chase and hit the bugs.

Do I need to press the working indicator button everytime I need to zap? Or is that just to indicate the battery life?

There is a on off switch for when you're not using it and the button needs to be pressed to zap the bugs.

How do you clean this?

Use a dry brush to clean the electric mosquito swatter.

If the outer mesh does not shock, how does it kill the bugs? The outer mesh would keep them from reaching the inside mesh wouldn't it?

The product has a 3-layer mesh, both outer side is mainly for protection, protecting you from accidentally touching. The outer openings are larger than the electrified inner mesh, thus flies, mosquitos, and other insects can fit through and touch the inner mesh resulting in them being zapped.
